I Am Malala
This was a very inspirational read. I first heard about this book when Malala was interviewed on The Daily Show with John Stewart. She's so young but she's already become the face of hope for youth education in Pakistan (and elsewhere).
Her father was instrumental in cultivating her appreciation of education. The value of education is most apparent during its absence or while it's under threat.
The writing is clear and reveals the human side of a teenage girl hoisted into the spotlight, both through her circumstances and her desire to be a voice for education.
Most people will recognize her for being shot by the Taliban. This book imparts her desire to be a champion of education and proponent of the beauties of Pakistani culture despite the violent subgroups.
